The Holy Quran has also taught its followers what words a father should use to address his children and what words a child should use to address his father. There are many such incidents mentioned in the Holy Quran in which the righteous servants of Allah addressed their children with words of utmost love and compassion, words of greater love than which no one can find. Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) called out to his son Canaan during the flood and said: ﴿ وَنَادٰی نُوْحُ نِ ابْنَہٗ وَکَانَ فِیْ مَعْزَلٍ یّٰبُنَیَّ ارْکَبْ مَّعَنَا وَلَا تَکُنْ مَّعَ الْکَافِرِیْنَ (Hud:42) Translation: Noah called his son, while he was far away, saying, “Son, come aboard with us, and do not be with the disbelievers.”

Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) addressed his son, Prophet Ishmael (peace be upon him): (As-Saffat: 102) Translation: My son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you, so tell me what you intend.
Prophet Jacob (peace be upon him) addressed his son, Prophet Joseph (peace be upon him):He said (Yusuf: 5) Translation: My son! Do not tell your dream to your (step) brothers, for they will surely plot against you. Indeed, Satan is an open enemy to man. Hazrat Luqman, may Allah have mercy on him, advised his son and said (Luqman: 13) Translation: (Remember the time) when Luqman advised his son: My son! Do not associate anyone with Allah, for indeed, polytheism is a great injustice. (Luqman: 17) My son! Establish prayer, enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and be patient in whatever calamity befalls you, for that is one of the acts of great courage.
