Authentic Sunnah Method
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) taught a specific dua to be recited when experiencing pain in any part of the body. This dua is narrated in Sahih Muslim (Hadith 2202) and is an effective supplication for relief from pain and discomfort.
How to Recite This Dua Properly:
- Place Your Right Hand on the Painful Area
- The Prophet (ﷺ) advised putting the right hand on the affected part of the body.
- Recite the Following:
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ (Bismillah) → Say this 3 times
(In the name of Allah) - Then say 7 times:
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ
A‘ūdhu billāhi wa qudratihi min sharri mā ajidu wa uḥādhir.Meaning:
“I seek refuge in Allah and in His power from the evil of what I feel and what I fear.”
- بِسْمِ اللَّهِ (Bismillah) → Say this 3 times

📖 Sahih Muslim (Hadith 2202)
It was narrated from ‘Uthman ibn Abi Al-‘As (RA) that he complained to the Prophet (ﷺ) about a pain he had in his body. The Prophet (ﷺ) told him:
“Place your hand on the part of your body that is hurting and say ‘Bismillah’ three times. Then say seven times: ‘A‘ūdhu billāhi wa qudratihi min sharri mā ajidu wa uḥādhir.'”
Additional Sunnah Actions for Pain Relief:
✅ Blowing on the Painful Area
- After reciting the dua, you may gently blow on the area for blessings (barakah).
✅ Ruqyah (Healing Supplications) - Reciting Surah Al-Fatihah, Ayat-ul-Kursi, and Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas can help with healing.
✅ Using Black Seed Oil & Zamzam Water - The Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned the benefits of black seed (nigella sativa) and Zamzam water for healing.
When to Recite This Dua?
📌 When feeling sudden pain
📌 During illness or discomfort
📌 If experiencing chronic pain
📌 After an injury
This dua should be recited with full belief in Allah’s healing power, and one should remain patient while seeking medical treatment if necessary.
